2020 Annual Report on Support for the Irish Abroad
The Department of Foreign Affairs has published its 2020 ‘Annual Report on Support for the Irish Abroad.’
This report details the range and depth of Government support for Irish communities and organisations around the world. Over the course of 2020, the Irish Abroad Unit’s ESP and Diaspora Affairs budget lines together funded €13 million to organisations. €11 million was spent through the Emigrant Support Programme (including Strategic Diaspora Projects) and a further €1.3 million was spent on the Covid Response Fund.
The report sets out the figures for the Government’s Emigrant Support Programme (ESP). Grants range from small amounts for voluntary groups, to major allocations awarded to organisations operating on a large scale.
