Bloomsday 2020

To mark Bloomsday in Britain, the Consulate General of Ireland took part in Embassy London’s #BloomsdayBritain celebrations which featured a host of fantastic performers sharing their favourite extracts of Ulysses.

From Scotland, Brian Taylor read Episode 13/Nausicaa - Leopold Bloom on Sandymount Strand - of Ulysses.  Brian is a Joyce enthusiast and a stalwart of the Consulate's Bloomsday celebrations. While we could not host a Bloomsday event this year, we were delighted that he could take part in this special series of Bloomsday2020 videos. Watch Brian’s reading here: https://bit.ly/LeopoldBloom

You can also watch this stunning short film -  ‘A New Day Will Be’ - a special #Bloomsday collaboration between the Department of Foreign Affairs and Museum of Literature Ireland (MoLI). ‘A New Day Will Be’ brings the words of James Joyce to life, in more than 40 locations and in multiple languages.
