Wherever Green is Worn
Metcalfe Auditorium, State Library of New South Wales, Sydney
6 May 2016 – 6pm
'Wherever Green is Worn' will see live musical performances and expert narration weave together a selection of songs from before, during and after the Easter Rising to bring to life the spirit of the times.
The evening of music and song will recall the events of Easter week 1916, acknowledging the variety of traditions on the island of Ireland. The performance of period songs will marry important primary historical sources with the emotion evoked through artistic expression to allow the audience to experience a range of stories from the Rising in keeping with the 'Remember' theme of Ireland 2016.
The Consulate in Sydney is pleased to support the event organisers having previously partnered with them to deliver a very successful musical and poetry event celebrating the 150th anniversary of the birth of WB Yeats.
For more information please visit the State Library of New South Wales event page or the Facebook event. Tickets for the event are free but must be booked in advance on Eventbrite.
