First time applications are complex as entitlement to Irish citizenship must be established. The Passport Service also has to confirm the consent of all guardians to issue a passport to a child.

These cases are too complex to process at a public counter. Particular complexity relates to the process of applications from children born in Ireland after 2004 due to the need to verify entitlement for Irish citizenship.

You can book an appointment if you have applied by Passport Express but it could take a significant amount of time to refund you the cost of your Passport Express applications.

You can book an appointment if you have applied using Passport Online. However, where an online application is advanced through the entitlement process, the Passport Service may not be able to facilitate an appointment, and will cancel the appointment and refund the fee.

We cannot associate the documents that you submitted in support of your Passport Online or Express application with your Urgent Appointment Service application. You will have to bring the correct supporting documentation, if required. If you do not have the correct documents, we will not be able to assist you with issuing a passport.

If you can no longer attend your appointment, you can cancel it up to 24 hours in advance of the appointment. The confirmation email that you received contains a link to cancel your appointment.

If your appointment was part of multiple bookings, cancelling one appointment will cancel all of the bookings.

You cannot amend an appointment. If you can no longer attend your appointment, you must cancel and book a new appointment. All cancelled appointments will be refunded.
