UFSC Film Festival -Irish Lives: The Cinema of Alan Gilsenan
A programme of screenings and debates looking at the cinema of Alan Gilsenan will take place at the Federal University of Santa Catarina from 18-20th May.
Screenings will include ‘The Ghost of Roger Casement’, ‘The Yellow Bittern’ on the life of singer Liam Clancy, ‘Eliza Lynch: Queen of Paraguay’, ‘The Bloody Canvas’ on the life of painter Sean Scully, ‘A Vision, a life of WB Yeats’ and ‘The Road to God knows Where’. Director Alan Gilsenan will be present at the event, participating in many of the discussions, with the opening lecture given Irish historian Professor Owen Dudley Edwards looking at the legacy of Roger Casement.
