BioAtlantis, Lentera Ltd and the Embassy of Ireland in Kenya partner to launch SuperFifty Prime

On 27th April 2021, BioAtlantis Ltd, Kerry, Ireland and Lentera Ltd Kenya virtually launched SuperFifty Prime advanced biostimulant in Kenya. Hosted by BioAtlantis, Lentera Ltd and the Embassy of Ireland in Kenya, this event presented results of trials done on roses and summer flowers in Kenya and answered questions from growers on this new technology.

The successful collaboration between the two companies came about through the Africa Agri-Development Programme (AADP), a joint initiative between Ireland’s Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) and the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Ireland. This programme enables Irish agri-food companies to partner with African companies in support of sustainable growth of the local food industry. It specifically aims to

  • Build markets for local produce;
  • Support mutual trade between Ireland and Africa
  • Offer grant funding of up to 50% of total costs to Irish Agri-food companies that are seeking to conduct feasibility studies or full projects with an African partner.

The event was attended by John T’O Sullivan, Killian Lynch, Jacob Masai, Dr Sujeeth Neerakal and Tomas Labandera all from BioAtlantis and Moses Kimani from Lentera Ltd.

Farming is crucial to the economies of both Kenya and Ireland. Ireland’s agricultural history highlights the feasibility of growing from smallholder subsistence farming to internationally competitive farming in under 40 years. Given the centrality of agriculture to Kenya – and Irish experience and expertise in this sector – supporting Kenya’s agri-sector is a key part of the Irish Government’s support to Kenya. Kenya is increasingly an important market for Irish agri-food companies.
